Review Kurikulum 2025: Prodi S2 Pendidikan Matematika Siap Hadapi Tantangan Global Pendidikan
Primary tabs

The Master of Mathematics Education Study Program FMIPA Yogyakarta State University has again demonstrated its commitment to adaptive and responsive curriculum development through the 2025 Curriculum Review activity held recently. This activity presented various stakeholders, including Prof. Al Jupri (Chairperson of the Indonesian Mathematics Education Postgraduate Association/PPMI), representatives from the DIY Provincial Teacher Movement Center (BBGP), and alumni and users of graduates from Ahmad Dahlan University.
In the forum, alumni and users said that, in general, the curriculum of the Master of Mathematics Education Study Program has shown a good and progressive direction. However, there are several constructive inputs to further improve the curriculum design in the future, especially in responding to the dynamics of scientific development and global challenges. Some important notes that surfaced in this forum include:
- Strengthening the Competence of Lecturers and Technology Infrastructure
The importance of increasing the competence of human resources through strengthening the capacity of lecturers and the procurement of learning support infrastructure, such as computers with high specifications to support computational learning, AI, and machine learning, was emphasized.
- Integration of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in the Curriculum
Another important recommendation is the addition of courses related to Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, which not only enrich the competence of graduates but also open up new job opportunities as data-based policy consultants in mathematics education.
- Improving Academic Quality and Global Collaboration
To create a superior academic atmosphere, it is recommended that the study program present AI and data science experts from renowned institutions, both national and international, especially from the world's top universities (QS World Ranking) or leading AI centers such as the University of Toronto.
- Strengthening Scientific Article Writing Course
Strengthening the Scientific Article Writing course is needed through training in conventional and AI-based reference searches, literature review techniques (including systematic literature review), and an in-depth understanding of the "state of the art, " including novelty, originality, and contribution of scientific papers.
- Editorial Adjustments to Matriculation and Andragogy Competencies
Proposed editorial changes to the matriculation course to clearly require students from non-Mathematics Education backgrounds to take it. In addition, it is also essential to add a description of andragogy competencies that S2 graduates must have to be ready to become educators and facilitators of adult learning.
- Mathematics Learning Technology Course Description
It is suggested that this course highlights modern digital technology and adds elements of conventional learning, such as developing and utilizing teaching aids.
The 2025 Curriculum Review activity reflects the continuous efforts of the Mathematics Education Master Program in aligning the academic vision with the needs of the field and the direction of global development. Through input from experts, alumni, and graduate users, the Study Program is committed to continuing to pioneer mathematics education innovation based on research, technology, and high-quality educational values.
