Sharing tips and experiences of international seminars in Japan from Graduate Students of Mathematics Education UNY

Prestasi Mahasiswa S2 Pend. Matematika UNY

The beginning of 2020 is very special for one of the Postgraduate students majoring in Mathematics Education at Yogyakarta State University. The reason is, that the student who is also a recipient of the LPDP scholarship succeeded in becoming a presenter at the “11th International Conference on E-Education, E-Business, E-Management, and E-Learning (IC4E 2020)” which was held at Ritsumeikan University, Osaka, Japan on January 10-12, 2020. This international seminar is not the first time Ikhsan has done so. Previously he had also conducted international seminars in several other cities and universities. It all turned out to be a stepping stone that eventually led him to Ritsumeikan University Osaka Japan. The seminar focused on the use of technology in education, business, and management. On this occasion, Ikhsan explained his study of the potential use of “Augmented Reality” in learning mathematics. after his presentation was completed, between the presenters and participants there was a very intense discussion that signaled the interest of other countries in the development of technology, especially the use of Augmented Reality in Indonesia, said Ikhsan. besides that, the participants were also very interested in seeing one example of the technology of using Augmented Reality in the classroom in Indonesia and finally, the offer of collaboration for future research also sprung up at that time. Not only that but after a long revision, the article written by Ikhsan was also declared accepted and eligible to be published in Scopus-indexed ACM proceedings. The seminar was closed with a dinner together followed by a light discussion between presenters who have the same research scope. One message for other friends who want to follow in his footsteps is to read more international journals, hone your English language skills and never hesitate to dream high because for all good intentions, God not only approves but also facilitates, said Ikhsan.
