The Department of Mathematics Education, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Yogyakarta State University successfully held Webinar Series #1 in 2025 on Saturday, July 26, 2025, with the theme "Mathematics Learning with a Deep Learning Approach and Assessment." The event was opened by Dr. Kuswari Hernawati, S.Si, M.Kom., who conveyed that the purpose of this activity was to open new insights and inspire educators in developing adaptive and meaningful mathematics learning.

The first speaker, Mr. Arif Jamali, S.Pd, presented the material "Mathematics Learning with a Deep Learning Approach". He emphasized that quality education is a citizen's right and the key to national development. Deep learning was presented as an approach emphasizing a conscious, meaningful, and enjoyable learning atmosphere through holistic and integrated thinking, feeling, sensing, and physical activity. Meanwhile, the second speaker, Prof. Dr. Heri Retnawati, M.Pd, presented the material "Current Mathematics Learning Assessment" with an emphasis on initial, mid-term, and final assessments, as well as the importance of assessment as learning that encourages students to reflect on what they have and have not mastered. She emphasized that the essential learning messages are meaningful, foster self-awareness, help students know what they can and cannot do, and create a pleasant atmosphere. Learning must also consider pedagogical practices based on authentic experiences, train higher-order thinking skills (HOTS), and encourage collaboration.

The webinar, hosted by Dr. Elly Arliani, M.Si., was interactive, with enthusiastic participants in the question and answer session about deep learning and its assessment. The Department of Mathematics Education, FMIPA UNY, is committed to continuing to contribute positively to the development of mathematics learning in Indonesia through pedagogical innovation and strengthening the competence of educators (HnR).
