The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Yogyakarta State University (UNY) has officially strengthened its international network by establishing a partnership with the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Quality Improvement of Teachers and Education Personnel (QITEP) in Mathematics. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) took place on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, in the Dean's Office of FMIPA UNY, and was signed directly by the Dean of FMIPA UNY and the Director of SEAMEO QITEP in Mathematics.

This MoU represents a strategic step aimed at strengthening international collaboration and supporting the improvement of mathematics education quality across Southeast Asia. The scope of the agreed cooperation includes the development of mathematics teachers' professionalism, the organization of international-scale seminars and workshops, the exchange of knowledge and experience, and the enhancement of innovation in mathematics learning processes relevant to the demands of the 21st century.

In his remarks, the Dean of FMIPA UNY, Prof. Dr. Dadan Rosana, M.Si., expressed his hope that this collaboration would open up opportunities for collaboration in various forms. These include teacher training, joint curriculum development, collaborative research, and faculty and student exchange programs. “Through this collaboration, we hope to collectively enhance the capacity of mathematics education, not only in Indonesia but also at the regional level,” said Prof. Dadan Rosana.

SEAMEO QITEP in Mathematics welcomed this collaborative initiative as an integral part of their mission to improve the quality of educators and educational staff in the field of mathematics. The signing of this MoU also reflects FMIPA UNY's commitment to supporting campus internationalization programs and addressing various global challenges in the field of mathematics education. It is hoped that this collaboration will significantly improve the quality of education and international networking at FMIPA UNY. (HnR)
