Prof. Barry Kissane: Calculator in Mathematics Learning

Calculator in Mathematics Learning

Prof. Barry Kissane is a calculator-assisted mathematics learning expert from Murdoch University, Australia. There were two kinds of calculators he delivered at the "GUEST LECTURING = GUEST LECTURING" course on October 1-2, 2019 at the Mathematics Education Study Program (PM) of UNY, namely the offline and online versions of calculators. The event was packaged in the form of a calculator exploration practice workshop in mathematics learning, which was attended by lecturers and students of the UNY PM study program.

According to Prof. Barry, the calculator is not only used as a calculation tool, but must be used to teach facts, concepts, and principles in mathematics and help in problem solving. Using the help of a calculator in learning mathematics, students can conduct discovery and investigation activities regarding rules, patterns, and mathematical formulas. (sgm)
